Vintage fez hat from Boise Idaho’s El Korah Shrine. Maroon wool felt fez with black tassel and decorated with rhinestones, goldwork embroidery and an applied pharaoh charm. The design is dominated by the Shriner’s badge of a scimitar over a crescent moon and star. The name of the shrine, El Korah is studded with ‘Aurora Borealis’ rhinestones and framed in twisted goldwork. The tassel is attached to the side of the fez with another crescent moon in red, AB and green rhinestones.
The fez was manufactured by D. Turin Co. in Hialeah Florida. The fez was made in the early 1980’s. D. Turin has been and manufacturing top quality fezzes in the United States since the 1920s. The box came from Anthony Nizzardini Masonic Supply Co in New York. The fez is in excellent condition with no damage to the embroidery or missing rhinestones. The wool is free of moth holes or other damage. The fez is size 7 ¼ and is approximately 6 ½ inches tall. The tassel is 18 inches. The box is approximately 9 inches in circumference and 8 ½ inches tall. The box cames with its original hat form to keep the fez’s shape intact during storage.
