Shallow bowl or plate made from a dark, stoneware body and glazed with a base of translucent off-white. The plate is further decorated with splashes of glaze in white, lime green and cobalt blue. The ceramic body had a textured applied before glazing, which is barely visible under the glaze, but produces a lovely, scale-like effect. It is signed on the verso. I can’t quite make out the signature, perhaps Willard or Willis. This is a beautifully crafted piece, made by someone very comfortable with their technique.
Condition is good, with no chips or cracks. There is some very light crazing at the center of the plate (see photos.) Approximately 8 inches in diameter, 1 ½ inches tall.
