Impressive jar-shaped ceramic lamp decorated in a riot of airbrushed and splattered pink, gold, black and blue. The finishing gives the impression of an impossibly large raku vessel. The iridescence and soot rings associated with the high-fired ceramic process have been artfully reproduced in this statement lamp. The decoration is balanced with wood neck and finial finished in a pickled stain with gold flecking. The design combines elements of a Chinese style ginger jar, with the figure of a Greek amphora, giving a vaguely traditional or classical feel, juxtaposed with the styling of 1980’s art pottery. This lamp would look fabulous in a 80’s postmodern living room, or on Alexis Carrington’s sideboard.
Ceramic base is approximately 19 inches tall, 25 inches from base to top of socket. It is 15 inches wide at the widest point, 6 inches at the base. The harp is 9 inches tall, the finial is 1 ½ inches diameter. In excellent condition with no chips, cracks, scratches, paint loss or other signs of wear.
