High fired, slipcast stoneware body with a straight walled cylindrical form with a tapered neck. Fixanished to a smooth, matte sheen with a fawn colored, slightly mottled glaze. It is further decorated with a sponged white background, overlaid with a series of blue concentric rings and two bands at the top and bottom of the design. Finally, it was overpainted in brown with a design of straight, vertical lines juxtaposed with vertical wavy lines.

Manufactured by Lapid pottery in Tel Aviv, this design was created by Elsbeth Cohen and was handpainted by one of a small number of artisans who worked at Lapid. This design is from the 1960’s and is a wonderful fusion of Scandinavian design elements meshed with the colors and textures of the desert. This is a statement piece for any mid century modern room.
