Wire framed, lozenge shaped lampshade with fabric decoration and beaded fringe. The frame was wrapped with white fabric before stretching and applying layers of magenta pink silk. To that a fine black tulle fabric was layered in alternating segments. The tulle is decorated with abstract shapes picked out with colored metallic threads in magenta and green. A square-pleated border of the was applied to the lower edge. A layer of beaded trim made up of jet-black hexagon and diamond faceted cut beads. The chevron-edged fringe is further decorated with a pattern rendered in clear, pink and green beads, terminating with large, jet-black teardrop shaped cut beads. The piece is finished with a braided, black trim.
Approximately 5 ¼ inches tall without fringe, 10 ½ inches tall with fringe, 15 inches wide, 12 inches deep. In excellent condition with no damage, burn holes or missing fringe. Compared to the inside, there is some slight sun fading to the pink colored silk on the outside. Upon very close examination, the glue used to adhere some of the elements has yellowed, consistent with age and use (see photos.)
