Bread platter manufactured by Adams in Pittsburgh, PA ca; 1882 in ‘Parthenon’ (AKA Egyptian, Sphinx or No. 50) pattern. Colorless pressed glass bread dish with Egyptian revival decorations. General oval shape with rim that extends into rectangle and has double canted corners; the short sides of rim form handles. In the center, a scene of Egyptian queen (Cleopatra) in profile, seated on bench in front of a decorated banister; in the background, desert with palm trees, head of Sphinx poking out of sand, temple, and large column. Around bouge, it’s inscribed: "Give us this day / our daily bread". The rim is decorated with a stippled border and stylized flower pattern.

Condition is very good; one tiny chip on reverse edge (see photos); some flea-biting around the edge, consistent with age and use. 13 1/4 in x 8 5/8 in, 1 3/8 in deep
